$5,000 REWARD FOR TIMES SQUARE SHOOTER
The Only Republican Mayoral Candidate Fernando Mateo Issued a $5,000 CASH Reward for Information Leading to the Arrest of Farrakhan Muhammad, the Prime Suspect in Times Square Shooting
NEW YORK – May 10, 2021: In reply to the Times Square Mother’s Day-weekend shooting where two women and a 4-year-old child were shot in broad daylight, the ONLY Republican candidate for New York City Mayor Fernando Mateo held a press conference earlier today in Times Square, New York, NY. He launched the “Silence the Guns” campaign issuing a $5,000 reward to New Yorkers who provide information leading to the arrest of the Prime Suspect – Farrakhan Muhammad – in the shocking shooting.
During the press conference Mateo said:
“I am issuing a $5,000 CASH REWARD for information leading to the arrest of the Prime Suspect in the Times Square shooting,” Mateo said. “The same way we launched Toys for Guns and got thousands of illegal weapons off the streets, we are launching a ‘Silence the Guns’ initiative to enhance the cash incentive for information leading to the arrest of violent criminals that terrorize our communities,” he stated.
“As Mayor, I will get these illegal guns off the streets of New York, repeal the failed Bail Reform system, and bring back mandatory 10-year sentencing for gun-related crimes,” he added.
Mateo was joined by Daby Carreras, the presumptive Republican Nominee for New York City Comptroller.

BACKGROUND: Today’s announcement is part of Mateo’s new initiative “Silence the Guns” to compliment Crime Stoppers. The Crime Stoppers Program offers rewards of up to $2,500 for anonymous information provided to the 800-577-TIPS hotline that leads to the arrest and indictment of a violent felon. This public/private partnership between the NYPD and the New York City Police Foundation has been an invaluable crime-fighting tool since the program's inception in 1983.
